Open House

Please join us on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 for Grades KG – 6th Open House from 3pm to 5pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to meet their teacher and classmates in a relaxed atmosphere.  We will have some exciting giveaways, activities, and refreshments.

School Day Begins

The earliest a student may enter the building is at 7:50am. Supervision is not available until 7:50am. Students joining us for breakfast are invited to line up at the main entrance doors at 7:50 am each morning.  Students are served breakfast until 8:15 am. We offer a free Universal Breakfast and Lunch to all of our students.

Announcements begin at 8:25am and the tardy bell will ring at 8:30am.  Students not in their homeroom by 8:30am will be marked tardy. Every student is encouraged to arrive to school early enough to have breakfast and begin their day with a smart start.

Parents you have to make sure you put a plan in place in order to support and ensure your child arrives to school each and every day on time.

Students with Chromebooks

Chromebooks are to come to school each day with your student fully charged. Please make sure your child brings his/her school issued chromebook on the first day of school.

Dismissal is at 2:30 pm.  Children should be home, or well on their way home, by 2:40 pm.  The playground is closed before and after school. KG, 1st, and 2nd grade will be dismissed from the front entrance – Door 1. 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade will be dismissed from the side doors (Doors 17 and 18).  Please be sure to give your child clear directions on what he or she is expected to do at dismissal (especially if they have siblings). If arrangements change, we ask that you call the office before 2:00pm.  Any student needing to leave early must be picked up before 2:15pm.   There is no guarantee that the office staff and classroom teachers are available to supervise your child after 2:45 pm.

Please make safe dismissal arrangements with your child daily.  Best practice is to maintain a daily routine.  Please remind your child to always cross at the crosswalks where there are crossing guards.

Kindergarten Parents

During the first week of school (September 3, 2019), kindergarten parents may walk their child to his or her classroom for the first two days only. This will only be permitted from Tuesday, September 3, 2019 and Wednesday, September 4, 2019. Staff members will also be present to assist students if necessary. After the two days, please help us encourage the development of organizational skills by making children responsible for entering and preparing for the day on their own. Kindergarten parents are not to walk children to their classrooms after the first two days of school.

School Safety

In order to keep your child and other children safe, it is necessary to report to the office before reporting anywhere else in the building.  Parents, community members, and any other visitors will not be permitted to go anywhere in the building until checking in the office first. If you are a volunteer and you volunteer on a regular basis, it is still necessary for you to check in the office first.

Parents please note:  no one will be permitted to walk their children to their classroom or be in the cafeteria during breakfast.  Again, our job is to keep everyone safe and minimizing the number of outside visitors is one way we keep students safe.

If after the first week of school you wish to visit your child’s classroom, please call ahead so that we can make the necessary arrangements. All teachers by contract must have a 24 hour notice before a classroom visit.  We look forward to your support in helping us eliminate any disruptions in the learning process. By calling ahead, you help us achieve this goal. Our number one priority is to ensure the safety and security of all the children in the building.  Thank you in advance for respecting the school and district policies.

On behalf of the entire school family, thank you for selecting Mason Community Learning Center.  I look forward to working with you and your child. The ALL Call System and Friday notes will be used to inform you of school activities and events.  I look forward to greeting each of you during our Open House on August 28, 2019, 3:00pm-5:00pm.  Enjoy the remainder of your summer.  Should you have questions, please contact the school office at (330)761-2237.
